Spring is here
Spring is here!
Now is the perfect time to shake off the heaviness of winter and embrace this new season of renewal, activity, expansion and growth.
In the spring, we emerge from the darkness of winter. As the days become longer, we have the opportunity to restore ourselves physically and energetically.
Spring is a time for renewal and growth in yoga, and many traditions celebrate the spring equinox with yoga. Yoga during the Spring months can help you connect with nature, ease your mind, and open your heart.
If you listen closely, your body receives nature’s message of renewal. The physical body craves the release of stored heaviness from winter through movement. The mind urges you to learn something new. The emotional and spiritual self looks ahead and wants to move forward into your desired future.
Spring is the time when we begin to plan for the year ahead, we have new energy which propels us into forward planning, having a clear vision and sense of purpose. It is a time for personal growth, change and new challenges. It is a time to cleanse the body, thoughts, and home; time to detox and de-clutter. Who doesn’t love a good spring-clean?
Spring is nature’s ‘new year’, and as we very much are nature, it’s really our new year too. The world starts to come to life again. It’s the season of love and fertility, growth and abundance, and a real sense of ‘new beginnings’, which makes it a great place to start cultivating a change to your seasonal rhythms.
This spring yoga practice includes a balance of postures that are strengthening and stretching to cultivate balance. The focus is on creating steadiness and presence to remind us to turn inward and become more aware of ourselves. Whether moving through a transition from one yoga posture to the next, or from winter to spring, lingering in the moments in between encourages us to slow down, move mindfully, and consciously focus on how we want to move forward.
